The "Big Girl" Nursery!!

Caroline and Abby are now in the "big girl" nursery as all the nurses say! It is the intermediate or step down nursery. We are so excited because this is one big step closer to coming home!! On this side of the NICU, the patients do not have large respiratory requirements and are basically just "feeding and growing." Both of the twins are now on microflow oxygen through their nasal cannulas. They need a tiny bit, but aren't requiring much help to maintain their oxygen saturations. They are now dressed and swaddled in blankets instead of lying under a warmer. They have done a great job of maintaining their body temperatures so far. Caroline now weighs 4 lbs 6 ounces and Abby weighs 4 lbs 11 ounces. They are such amazing growing girls! The nurse they had last night could not hear Abby's murmur so we think her PDA has closed. Now we pray that it stays closed for good! Both girls are doing great with nursing! They get a little overwhelmed with the bottle because the milk comes out really fast! They are still mostly fed through their ng tube but are enjoying learning to nurse and bottle feed. We are so thankful for these two precious gifts God has given us. It is amazing to look back and see how far they've come and how God has and continues to bless our family!
