Happy New Year!
A new year always makes people reflect on the past year and hope for the next year. Well, Catherine and I have a lot to be thankful for in 2005 and we have even more to anticipate for 2006. This time last year having a child was still a very distant thought and the Lord blessed us with TWO children. Our girls are doing so well and we are so thankful for all our friends and family and for their prayers and support.
Tonight, we were able to hold our girls for the third night in a row! It is so amazing to have this tiny little girl placed on your bare chest and feel her every movement. We hold them for about an hour each time and they get their feeding (through a tube) while we hold them. The nurses told us that the girls would do better when we held them and it's true! Once they get settled down, both of them seem to need less monitoring and less oxygen. Most of the time, the girls are on CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) and then on the nasal cannula for three hours out of every twelve. We pray that they will be able to tolerate the nasal cannula for longer periods of time because this will lead to greater breathing independence. Caroline weighs 3 lb. 11 oz. and Abby weighs 3 lb. 13 oz. They both continue to grow and tolerate more milk each day. Caroline had a spinal tap last week to rule out meningitis and her results came back negative, so we are very thankful. We continue to pray that they will not have any more infections and continue to grow.

Happy New Year!! Those girls of yours are so beautiful!! I love all of the pictures. You two are the best parents and I know those girls look forward to the time they get to be in your arms.
The girls continue to be in our prayers daily as well as the two of you!

Thank you both for taking the time to keep us updated! I check your blog several times a day to see what is new. I sent the blog address to Caroline's and Abby's "distant" relatives in Tennessee. There are a whole bunch of people back in eastern Tennessee "stormin" heaven's gates with prayers for all of you. Aunt Nell told me to make sure that you knew that she is thinking about all of you. As soon as she gets out to one of her daughter's homes, she is going to check out the blog and your pictures. Whoever said that you can't teach old dogs new tricks, doesn't know the 'Goforth' clan. Aunt Nell turned 90 last year, and she is still going strong. Love ya! Aunt Dianna
