One year ago today....

Caroline and Abby came home from the hospital this time last year! We remember that day like it was yesterday!! Michael went to work and I went to the hospital to feed the girls. Nana came up to visit and we learned that the girls passed their car seat test! We knew that coming home was a strong possibility, so we ate lunch quickly at "My Friend's Place" and rushed home to clean for our baby girls! Nana and I had the house spotless and Michael came home from work early. I was upstairs when the phone rang...Michael answered it. Vicki, our nurse, reported that we had discharge orders!!! Michael and I were so excited!! We cried and hugged and didn't even know what to do first! Michael went and picked up their prescriptions and had the car washed. Gramma came over after school. We got the girls clothes ready and made sure everything was in order for our beautiful baby girls to come home! We went up to the hospital with Gramma, Granddaddy, Nana and Papa. Michael took the girls wires off of them. No more monitors!!! We fed them, dressed them and got them in their car seats. We then took them down to tell everyone in the NICU bye-bye!! It was such a joyous day! We hurried home and ate dinner with the grandparents. When everyone left, it was just Michael, me, Caroline and Abby! We were so scared! We laughed and thought.."Are we sure they are allowed to be here with just us?" We checked on them all night and hardly slept at all! I think we got 3 hours sleep total all night! (in 30 minute increments!!) It is just so amazing to look back on this year and to reflect on how much our babies have grown and how very blessed we are! They were 5 lbs when we brought them home and now they are 20 lbs! There are three words to describe this day last year...joy, fear and exhaustion! Caroline and Abby are such blessings to us and fill our lives with such joy!
