40 weeks....

Our girls are 40 weeks old today!! They are officially newborns even though we've had them now for 2 1/2 months. We are so incredibly thankful for how far they've come. They are the sweetest girls! We don't get out much...but we have had two doctors visits this week. It is funny how that becomes such an adventure! We went to the NICU clinic this week. It was great for our doctor who has known the girls since birth to see them. He is very pleased with them and says they are doing great! He even said their belly buttons were "cool"! (they have big outies!) We are now giving them some formula too so they can really put on the pounds! Abby weighs 6 lbs and Caroline is 6 lbs 4 ounces. They are getting so big! They are really developing good head control. Their PT mommy is so proud! They are both lifting their heads up to look at us and turning their heads side to side while they lay on our chests. They also visited the eye doctor who said their retinas have completely attached and they look perfect! We'll go back in three months to have their vision checked. Abby's jaundice is getting better. Her bilirubin levels are on a downward trend and we are very happy about that. It is so amazing to hold our precious daughters and to remember how fragile they once were. Our family is so blessed! We are thankful today, on their due date, that we have two beautiful, healthy baby girls! We are also thankful for all the support we have...prayers, love, baby holding, and help around the house! I've learned it is a full time job times two to be a mommy of twins! (in the picture...Abby is on the left and Caroline is on the right!)

We Survived!

We survived our first week at home. As you probably guessed from the drop off in posts, it was pretty hectic! Catherine and I are learning how to manage everything and try to squeeze in a little sleep in between. Thankfully we had some help last week from Catherine's mom and sister. The girls came home from the NICU on a four hour eating schedule, which was great. That barely lasted a week before we had to adjust it to a three hour schedule, which seems to make them much happier. The girls went to the doctor on Thursday to get their shots and a check up. Caroline passed Abby in weight and is now up to 5 lbs. 9 oz. and Abby weighs 5 lbs. 7 oz. As some of you might know that Abby's jaundice came back a few weeks ago, she's a little yellow in the pictures. The NICU doctors changed her medicine around to see if that helped. She had blood work at the doctor which showed her levels are dropping which we are very excited about, her color is looking much better! The girls are enjoying meeting all of their family and friends. Also, I posted a lot of new pictures from this week.

THE GIRLS ARE COMING HOME!

Yes, that is right! Our babies are coming home tonight! Catherine and I are very excited to finally bring our girls home. This is the day that we were praying for from the beginning and it is so hard to believe it is here. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and encouragement. We know the journey is just beginning and we are so excited that our babies are coming home. We will post more soon and continue to keep you updated.
